|"Palette Cleanser", watercolors and ink on cold press.|
I don't clean out my palettes (which are often petri dishes, literal petri dishes, which don't stain and have lids and in plastic are quite cheap per quantity) regularly, but when I do, I sometimes use the leftovers to create paintings entirely from my imagination and memory. Some are more successful than others; to this fruit and nut still life I painted late one night, I decided to add a bit of whimsy on another morning.
My tutor told me these foods are also used to clean the palette, so, hm. Pun accepted.
